July 2 is my actual birthday, and this year I turn 49. For as long as I can remember, my birthday has been tied to the Fourth of July weekend. My dad’s birthday is July 6, so our family has always shared this time of year as a celebration. It has never just been about fireworks or the holiday. For me, this weekend has always felt like family, connection, gratitude, and coming together.
